M.Sc Computer Science Vs. MCA/MTech | What Should You Choose?

$
0
0

MSc Computer Science is a two-year post-graduate degree programme in Computer Science and is one of the most sought-after courses for students after graduation in the field of computers apart from MCA and MTech in CS/IT. These courses are mostly the same curriculum in different flavours and have the same levels of importance. However, pursuing MSc Computer Science is always an edge apart higher than the rest. What makes it a hot pursuit for students are:

1. Intensive exposure to advanced topics:

MSc Computer Science offers an intensive, high-end exposure to topics which are exclusively focussed on advanced modules on Computers and allied sciences. In contrast, students enrolled in MCA have to undergo management modules too. Therefore, students enrolled in the MSc programme have a better understanding of the core and the advanced topics in a more intensive and dedicated manner.

2. Duration of the course and entrance:

MSc Computer Science is a 2-year programme whereas MCA is a three-year full-time programme. As a result, MSc Computer Science saves a year for the students but provides them with the same expertise. Also, admission to MCA or MTech in premier colleges/ institutions would require high scores in national level entrance tests like GATE, NIMCET and so on. On the other hand, admission to MSc Computer Science is based primarily on the expertise and performance in the graduation level programmes such as BSc and BCA which makes the programme more benchmarked. Also, MTech in CS can be pursued only after MCA or BTech and therefore it is more time efficient for pursuing MSc in Computer Science.

(BTech+MTech = 4+2=6 years, BCA/BSc+MCA+MTech =3+3+2=8 years)

whereas,

(BCA/BSc+MSc Computer Science=3+2=5 years)

Also Read: BCA vs B.Tech | Which is better? Which one should you choose?

3. Projects and research:

The project and dissertation in MSc Computer Science can be directed towards the software industry relevant projects as well as research-based contributory projects. This makes the course more versatile as students have a chance to taste both of software project development as well as academic research. In contrast, the projects in MCA are strongly aligned to the software development alone and those in MTech are directed towards research alone. This creates an incompleteness in the experience that the students get when they enrol in MCA or MTech.

4. Job Profiles:

Students enrolled in MCA aim primarily towards job assignments in the software industry whereas MTech aspirants are more preferred for jobs in research projects or R&D positions. In contrast, MSc Computer Science students are looked for in both software industry as well as for research projects in academia and the industry R&D labs. This makes the MSc Computer Science course more versatile as a postgraduate course as students have the option to explore industry, academia and research at the same time.

The women cell of Inspiria Knowledge Campus was fortunate enough to get an opportunity to serve the needy section of today’s society. An organization named CONC’RN (Care of Needy Children rightfully Nurtured), near New Jalpaiguri railway station helps the homeless and abandoned children by offering them a place to live in and food to eat.

Inspiria Women Cell with children

We, the members of women cell, decided to pay a visit there and contribute to the social work done by the organization. The moment we reached the organization, the children were really excited. Their faces were a reflection of happiness as they warmly welcomed us with greetings. We spent a lot of time there- talking to them, learning about their likes and dislikes, their life in the organization and much more trying to be friends with them. We distributed stationary items, sweets, and chocolates to all the children. By receiving new gifts they were really elated and expressed their gratitude.

Inspiria Women Cell with children

We also organized a dance session wherein all the children present there joined us and danced to the beats, sang songs and enjoyed to the fullest. The sparkling eyes of those innocent souls gave us feeling of contentment that our little efforts could make them so happy. This was the first initiative taken by the women cell. We look forward to many more opportunities to spread happiness and contribute socially.

The only reason you cannot FOCUS on your STUDIES!

$
0
0

This is one of the most important topic for any student. Specially, for the ones who are going to appear for the Board examination next year in 2018.

Even after spending 6 hrs 10 mins per day in school, approximately from the age since you were 3 years, if you are unable to generate habit, interest, focus & motivate yourself to study, there is something definitely lacking to generate interest in your life to study. The reason, “why” to study. Human beings are selfish species who do nothing until they see a reason for doing it.

Whereas on the other hand, you can spend hours on habits like partying, Facebook, whatsApp etc, which are your recent generated habits.

Don’t you think that this needs to be pondered upon deeply?

Also Read: 7 Effective Study Habits to Score Better

We often hear people saying around us to develop interest, focus and concentrate in studies (which is their diagonosis of the problem, “students’ problem”)- but no one is ready to hear the students’ side of the problem- i.e. how to develop interest, how to focus, how to concentrate & how to motivate to study. Right, isn’t this the problem that all students face?

Knowing these problems are not the solution to these problems, let’s check the ‘why’ of the will to generate habit, interest, focus and motivate oneself towards Facebook, WhatsApp, partying etc. What is that factor or force that drives one towards these without any procrastinate- i.e. posting a selfie every moment, without any laziness- to like, share & write a post. One is even ready to hold oneself from sleeping, resting, thinking twice in putting extra effort in updating the best of ability.

Is it mere interest that drives, motivates and allows one to focus? Or is it something else?

The point to be highlighted here is something that many would not agree though i.e., Interest is not the factor here.

Also Read: Pro tips to score 90% and above in Board Exams

Factor is, self- recognition, appreciation, boost from your friends and relatives, along with the anonymous group of people, who don’t even know each other: “likes”, “shares” on social media encourages your work.

Whereas on the other hand, one feels that nobody recognises their efforts, their class performance- it’s primarily the toppers. This creates a space in the subconscious mind of students of not being recognised, appreciated and rewarded. This leads to develop a sense of avoiding studies in order to seek a sense of recognition and boost from areas it is appreciated.

Next comes identifying the prolem- so how do we solve it? As we all know to every problem, there is a solution. Even to this problem there is a solution and the solution is very simple.

In the rat race of career and life, one tends to forget to do something that makes study very intersting. A simple six-step process can just change one’s perspective towards studies:

Step 1: One should start relating their subjects to their lives- One must have the urge to know why water – H2O & Oxygen (O2) is so important?, that’s Chemistry! One should have the urge to know where do Hydrogen & Oxygen get used in our body, how they break their form, that’s Biology… One should want to know the probability of becoming successful in life and achieving what one wants- Mathematics!

When one wants to know about the use of Facebook & WhatsApp, about their functions, that becomes Computers & Technology. One gets to know about the Earth and its happenings till date under Geography & History. Similarly, one can relate all other subjects to their lives and implement accordingly.

Step 2: Relating the chapters to lives- Playing Cricket can be a chapter on Projectile. Father having a loss in business can be a chapter on Profit & Loss.

Step 3: Implementing the topics in our lives- after relating, one can begin with implementing and problem solving. Friend had a break up, their traits didn’t match – may be related to Helium’s (He) condition of not bonding with any other elements under normal conditions- simply meaning they were not meant to be together. So why crib and cry over it? When one wants stability, one needs to bond with the one who needs that extra electron. Every chapter can be implemented with our lives. These are all meant to be used in our lives. Use it and see how you enjoy it.

Step 4: Start sharing the concept of implementation with others, one may even use social media platform that interests that individual- Facebook, WhatsApp etc.

Step 5: “Likes” for ones work, knowledge, “Shares” for ones work means recognition. Thus, the result is built up motivation.

Step 6: Lastly, once interest is generated in ones studies, an individual is ready for the next project.

Simple steps can change lives. So, it just your outlook towards studies. You can also watch the video on this blog on our YouTube channel from below. All the Best!

The Ultimate Study Guide for 2018 Board Exams

$
0
0

The entire universe revolves around one single thing- i.e. “Time”. Be it the Sun, moon, stars, seasons, anything in our day to day life follow a specific period or duration or pattern. So, with the help of this basic fact, I would like to make you understand the importance of time and routine.

This being the peak time for the students appearing in Board Examination 2018, it’s high time for you to set a timetable or routine that will give you a concrete mind frame about what to study and when to study. As you can yourself realise that an unplanned and unstructured mind results in “time-loss”, which is not at all affordable at this point of time when the examinations are on the bend. The timetable will not be a problem as the majority of the schools give study leave after mid of December till February.

I don’t advocate private coaching, as I firmly believe that nothing can be better than self-study during this time period. Where individuals need to take the call to make the difference. Students it’s you who can make the difference and no one else can, for you.

Divide the 24 hrs of a day into various segments – 8 hours sleep segment, 12 hours study/preparation segment and 4 hours family and friends (or your – “me time”) segment. Some will be thinking why- not 6 hours of sleep or 2 hours of break/ refreshment time and why not utilizing more time to study and do magic. The only reason is that we humans are very sensitive beings – i.e. we get demotivated when deprived of socializing. Also, this aggravates a level of stress in the mind which is just not to be allowed under any circumstances. To concentrate and focus one need a fresh, relaxed and encouraged set of mind. Which is only possible with a healthy and positive conversation between family and friends.

(How to Score 90% and above in Board Exam Easily in 30 Days!)

I would also, like to make an appeal to the parents to ensure a healthy, positive and motivating environment for their kids. As you are the major source of inspiration and motivation in their life. A support system is also required for helping the kids follow a pattern and adapt to it.

Segment 1

Coming back to the agenda, you can allocate 1 hr per subjects. The first hour should start with subjects involving brain work and problem-solving namely – Mathematics/Accounts/Geography based on your stream Science/Commerce/Arts (6.00 AM to 7.00 AM), followed by Physics/ Economic (7.00 AM to 8.00 AM). The practice should involve concept clearing. Break for 30 minutes have breakfast and family time over the table discussion. This time slot should be used for the subject that you feel is difficult and needs extra attention.

Refresh and again resume back to study (from 8.30 AM to 9.30 AM). You can take up subjects that need memorizing namely- Chemistry/History/Commerce and followed by Biology (from 9.30 AM to 10.30 AM). This time slot is for the subjects that needs to be registered in the mind. Get something to munch and hydrate yourself- for example, cake or juice or fruits. Break for 30 minutes and refresh yourself- hang around with your mom and siblings.

Segment 2

This segment is a lighter segment, from 11.00 AM to 12.00 PM read subject which needs to be read like EVS, English. From 12:00 PM to 1.00 PM Second language or any light subject. Break for lunch and take a nap if required. Start fresh all over again from 3.00 to 5.00 PM and solve past years questions based on the topics covered by you for the respective subjects. Also, check the time you are taking to solve the questions for each subject and topics. This will help will gain confidence and also train your mind to handle examination anxiety. Most importantly this practice will help you understand your subject and topics strengths and weaknesses.

Go out play, talk, and hang out with friends for one hour. Regenerate yourself and mind to complete the last segment.

Segment 3

From 6.00 to 7.00 PM study subjects which need concept and practice like computers/ economics and they carry on with subject(s) that you feel you require more time to understand and grasp better. Have dinner by 8.00 pm.The last two hours are the most important of all. Revise all the subjects and topics you have covered throughout the day in point format. Recall the formulae, steps, concepts, sub-topics and important points before going to bed.

(The only reason you cannot FOCUS on your STUDIES!)

Whatever you register during your recall time before going to bed is feed into your brain which you will not forget.

These are minor and small tips that will help you perform well in your exams. But ultimately it all depends on you, how much you dedicate yourself, focus and train your mind to follow the time and stick to the time set.

You may change the time as per your comfort level. Also, you can change the subjects as per your perception of the subject. As for some, maths is easy whereas for some maths is another name of fear.

Important things to keep in mind while preparing for Board Exams

January means its countdown to the board exams of Class X and XII! The selection tests are over and for intermediate students, these are the final days of school life! What tensed students need at this time is a bit of friendly advice – tips which could go a long way in ensuring that the first hurdles of life sail through in a smooth manner.

First, students should bear it in mind that this is not a “Make or Break” test as most people make it out to be! While all efforts should be made to achieve the best one can, the world does not end if you do not get your 90+ percent. Take a look at the teeming crowd in a city mall or a railway station – be sure that most of them did not get 90 percent in their Boards! Yet so many of them are successful!

Second, remember that sitting at your desk and “learning” and “memorizing” is not what you should be doing now! Rather sit back, relax, detect your weak errors and carefully revise your lessons in a calm manner. Instead of reading or writing at a stretch for hours what you should do is keep thinking about the topics if you have read every time. Reflection is the key to retention. Watching a fast action movie to relax after eight hours of study means you will have forgotten half the things you studied at the end of the show.

Third, avoid night study as much as you can. At this stage when examinations are just a few days away, you need a lot of sleep. Also, avoid too much of socializing and moving around. Solitude helps you to focus better.

Do keep in mind to make a reasonable assessment of your capabilities and expectations. Remember life offers opportunities for all. All you need is a little hard work and perseverance.

Toppers are not necessarily the only hallmarks of success. Hard work is!

How To Control Your Mind for Board Exam

$

It is the psychological affairs within a personality that distinguishes one from the other. One day is equal to 86,400 seconds in which the earth rotates once with a mass of approx 6X10^24 kg then why can’t one control a mind which is merely 1.4kg? If the sun and the earth would have been inconsistent with their pattern, can one really think that they would have been able to do things as they were happening? The earth works persistently and consistently despite the mass it carries, to rotate, once a day. As a result, we experience seasons and other similar natural occurring.

Similarly, it is now time for students to understand that every single time that they have now is very vital. ISC students barely have one month to go, while the CBSE students have around one and a half months. So if one doesn’t start preparing now and wait for the last moment, it will be very late due to the gaps developed in the period. As such, it becomes important to understand to how to control the 1.4kg mind, which if once controlled, solves the entire problem. So why can’t one control the mind? It’s because one has too many things that one wants to do in excess be it video-gaming, social media use, playing, sleeping, chatting or shopping. These are things which deprive a student of focusing so one has to learn to control. Anything taking the mind beyond is actually distracting.

Time management becomes important for the students in the upcoming 1-1.5 months for exams. Controlling a mind, therefore, is important and it is indeed not a difficult task. Imagining to join certain premium institutes through achieving good grades, while studying, actually concludes that one doesn’t have control over the mind. It is in fact, the future stress that one is undergoing which leads to such imagination. It means that the student is focusing on that particular moment and not the future. How does the student stop assuming then? The solution is simple. One must stop relating its imagination of admissions with his/her social status. It is not the time to think of making parents proud but rather to cope up with the “restricted time” or the limited time before the boards. One should not just simply “go to the future”. The stress leads to a positive aspect and a negative aspect of thought process. Thinking of getting admitted to a good university and at the same time, being skeptical regarding the performance of board exams are both hypothetical situations, which are not practical at the moment. “Being where you are” makes one practical. For example, reading a chapter on ‘Electromagnetism’ is being there and reading it instead of imagining to apply it somewhere in numerical or practical life. This is what controlling the mind is all about i.e., to be there at the moment and when one understands that, the negativity has to be removed. The thought process made towards a particular subject say Maths or Physics makes it difficult.

Board Exam Study Group

At the basic stages of education, one has no idea of A, B, C, D or 1,2,3,4. So things become difficult because students tend to run away from it. Escaping instead of Practising during the academic year as much as possible may initially lead to short-term happiness and the ignorance, in turn, leads to stress in the end. The ultimate time left for the exams is definitely not for stress. Stress is nothing but a creation of the mind, when one doesn’t control the mind! So the students must decide to face the situation, get close to their books, understanding their need and moving with the attitude of learning and applying them so that they learn. Changing the attitude towards the subject converts the difficulty level to one’s advantage. Attitude defines an individual. One cannot expect love from their parents if he/she hates them. At some point, they will get annoyed and shout back. What you give is what you get policy towards the subjects too is applicable in an apt manner. Respecting, liking, welcoming, applying the subject brings the subject closer to the subject. The priority should be to control the mind and not to waste time.

(Watch the entire video in action)

Setting and understanding one’s priority is important. Video games and shopping should be the last priority. The mindset and priority to finish a particular topic can do wonders, so it is important to prioritize. The gaps given in between the exams is not the time to prepare but to revise and recall. As such, the ones who will be waiting for the last moment will only regret. So, let’s start now!
